Al Kovach Jr., Member
Al Kovach, National Senior Vice President of the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA), serves on the board of directors for Project VisAbility. Kovach shares the goal of creating careers for those with physical challenges, and for paralyzed veterans in particular... especially careers that involve physical activity versus sitting behind a desk. With his rise to distinction as a champion athlete, Kovach has become a tireless advocate and promoter for people with disabilities, breaking down barriers and fighting negative stereotypes. He has served on the board of directors of several nonprofit organizations and participated in fundraisers generating millions of dollars to assist children and adults as they pursue their athletic endeavors in adaptive sports. In 2004, Al and several friends started the San Diego Adaptive Sports Foundation, an adaptive sports program for kids and injured service members.
Kovach was re-elected as the Vice President of the Paralyzed Veterans of America and recently promoted to Senior Vice President. He currently serves as the Cal-Diego Chapter immediate past president. He joined the chapter as its government relations director and has served on its board of directors since 1991. A native of Philadelphia, Kovach attended Indiana University before joining the military as a US Navy SEAL. Al and his wife, Magaly, reside in Coronado, California.
